Keeping Senior Citizens Who Receive Home Care And Suffer From Dementia Active

The bachelor thesis deals with keeping seniors with dementia active in the home environment. The aim of the thesis is to describe the characteristics, possibilities, and limitations of pet therapy, as one of the activation methods, used with seniors who are suffering from dementia in the home environment. The bachelor thesis deals with aging and old age. It introduces dementia and some of its characteristics. Next, it deals with the possibilities of senior care for people suffering from dementia and methods of keeping seniors with dementia active. It also examines pet therapy as one of such methods. The aim of the survey is to find out what limitations associated with dementia may occur during the use of the pet therapy method and how the life of a senior is influenced by a pet. To find this out, interviews with caregivers who care for seniors with dementia are used as well as case studies of specific seniors.
